What Are The Breast Implant Incision Types?
Periareolar Incision
Here, the incision encircles the areola, with the scar well-hidden within its darker pigmentation. The drawback is that this positioning may not preserve nipple sensitivity as well as some of the other incision options.
Inframammary Incision
The frequently used incision, known as inframammary fold incision, offers access to breast tissue. The scar hides under the bra line. It’s a low-risk option for future breastfeeding and childbirth plans.
Transaxillary Incision
The incision is in the armpit, with nearly invisible scarring. The surgeon tunnels the unfilled implant to the chest and inflates it. No visible breast scars. The potential drawback is that this technique may be less precise in terms of implant placement.
