Who Is a Candidate for Eyelid Surgery?
You may be a candidate for eyelid surgery if you are bothered by hooded eyelids, excess upper lid skin, under-eye bags or puffy eyes, or an overall tired or aged appearance. Patients with obstructed peripheral vision caused by sagging upper eyelid tissue often experience life-changing improvements after upper blepharoplasty.
Ideal candidates are nonsmokers in good overall health who maintain realistic expectations about their results.
To determine if you are a good candidate for eyelid surgery, schedule a consultation at Savalia Plastic Surgery by calling (949) 759-0980 or filling out our online contact form.
Preparing for Your Eyelid Surgery
The first step of your blepharoplasty is an in-depth consultation. Dr. Savalia will evaluate your facial anatomy and take the time to discuss your aesthetic goals before creating a surgical plan.
During your consultation, you and Dr. Savalia will:
- Review your medical history, including previous surgeries and current medications
- Discuss your eyelid concerns, both cosmetic and functional
- Determine whether upper eyelid surgery, lower eyelid surgery, or a combination of both is best suited to your goals
- Discuss whether additional facial procedures may enhance your results
- Review your surgical plan, anesthesia options, recovery timeline, and postoperative instructions
Patients are advised to stop smoking for at least six weeks before and after surgery, as well as to avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements. Doing so is crucial to help minimize preventable complications, such as bleeding and tissue necrosis.
