What Is a Deep Plane Neck Lift?
A deep plane neck lift is an advanced surgical platysmaplasty technique designed to sculpt and refine the neck by addressing the skin and deeper anatomical structures.
The appearance of the neck is shaped by several underlying tissues and structures. These include skin, subcutaneous fat, the platysma muscle, deeper fatty compartments, the submandibular glands, and fibrous connective tissues—all of which may be repositioned as necessary in a deep plane neck lift.
Whereas traditional neck lifts rely on tightening the skin or superficial muscle layers, the deep plane neck lift focuses on reshaping the underlying framework. This may include: contouring the platysma muscle, removing or repositioning deep fat deposits, or reducing the submandibular glands, to reestablish a clean, defined cervicomental angle (the observable angle between the chin and neck).
By addressing these foundational elements, the procedure creates a more sculpted and natural contour.
